The ListenBrainz project is similar to the original AudioScrobbler®. Unlike the original project, ListenBrainz is open source and will publish its data as open data.
A team of former Last.fm and current MusicBrainz hackers created the first version of ListenBrainz in the space of a weekend. Since the original project was created, technology has advanced at an incredibly rapid pace, which made re-creating the original project fairly straightforward.
Meson Player is a very convenient music player if you don’t need a GUI to control playback or manage playlists. You just run it and then forget about it. The player runs in the background. Switching tracks, volume control, loading and saving playlists, all of this is performed by using hotkeys, therefore you can control the player while working in any application.
Meson Player supports gapless playback, Last.FM, a lot of music file formats (stream and tracker), Internet radio and playlist management.
Last.fm is a web service that maintains a history of what you’ve listened to. You’ll need a Last.fm account and a player that can scrobble. Scrobbling is uploading the artist’s name and song title of your currently playing track to Last.fm’s server. foo_audioscobbler allows Foobar to keep your Last.fm profile current.
It replaces the Last.fm client application.
It supports the current submission protocol.
It sends “now playing” notifications to your Last.fm profile.
Optionally, it can import played tracks from your iPod via the foo_dop component.
After you install foo_audioscrobbler, you’ll need to log into your Last.fm account in Foobar’s Preferences menu.
